As described in “Our Town Vienna: A Blank Wall and an Invitation“, the old Community Building has been sitting vacant for some years in Vienna – awaiting demolition. But is that the way it needs to be? Following the June 30th “visioning” meeting, a group of Vienna residents loaded up in golf carts and trucks to tour some town assets in need of attention. One stop was the community building. Several in the group had fond memories of large community events held there. For others, this was their first time seeing the interior. But everyone came away with the sense that this is a building worth preserving. And there’s even room to add more parking on the existing land. The lack of town parking had been given as the main reason for town leaders to demolish the building in the first place. The photos below do not do it justice, but will give you a sense of the “community building” that is possible in Vienna.
